Memorable Moments on the Journey of Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
Maral Yazarloo-Pattrick reflects on a poignant memory during her pregnancy when she was riding her motorcycle across Africa. She shares, “I was on a motorcycle when I found out I was pregnant… I had conversations with my baby, whom I called Blueberry, while navigating bumpy, challenging roads.” Similarly, Sarah Sham describes integrating her children into her work life, making every project an adventure: “I take my kids everywhere. You’d be surprised how much fun they have on construction sites.” While sonam Kalra recalls, “The lullabies I created for my children always had a personal touch, making every moment and tune memorable.”
Balancing Family with Entrepreneurial Ambitions
Balancing family and business demands a lot of and support. Maral admits, “My work involves a lot of travelling, which is the difficult part, prioritising time for my daughter and my family alongside my business and biking is extremely challenging.” Sarah Sham echoes this sentiment, stating, “Balancing work and family isn’t easy… It’s always challenging, but integrating my children into my schedule which includes taking them to sites.” However, Sonam Kalra finds herself fortunate to have an army to support her, “I manage my passion for music while having 3 children and 5 dogs with a lot of help, some prayer, and literally one second at a time.”
Turning Points in Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
When it comes to a turning point in their lives, Maral speaks about the reality of motherhood hitting her when her daughter was born: “What I imagined about motherhood was way different from reality, everytime I go on tour I know my baby is waiting for mama to come home.” For Sarah, a crucial turning point was the advice to keep her schedule and integrate her children into her life, which has allowed her to continue her work seamlessly. Sonam shares how performing in front of her children was a turning point, “It was the first time my children actually got to see me on stage… I was a really proud mama to know that my children could see me do what I do.”
These captivating stories from Maral, Sarah, and Sonam truly depict the importance of balancing career aspirations while nurturing a family. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, their stories remind us of the strength and adaptability of all mothers making moves.
