6 Tips To Be The Best Leader For Your Business Right Now
It’s totally natural to get sucked into a self-doubt spiral about all things business at the moment. Which activities should you focus on? Should you talk about your offers? Are people even buying? I bet all these thoughts are swirling around in your head and sending you into analysis-paralysis.
But here’s the thing: Your business needs you to have its back now more than ever. And real talk? The economy needs cash injections to stay afloat.
Here, Savitha Nanjappa is an International Success Coach, Entrepreneur and the founder of her global coaching brand Success With Savitha, shares with us 6 tips to keep your head above water and be the best boss babe for your business right now.
1. Re-assess your opportunities
I was trying to avoid the “p” word, but pivoting really is your best bet if you want to be the “go-to” business in your niche for existing as well as new clients.
Essentially, if old ways aren’t opening new doors during these times, it’s time to create new opportunities.
Which needs are untapped, unmet, and relevant in your market right now? And how can you tweak your existing services to cater to those?
Think about it.
2. Stay visible
Sure it’s hard to talk about your business without accidentally coming across as tone deaf in the present situation.
But if you really want my advice, going dark on your prospects isn’t a great idea either.
Instead, continue to educate your audience about what you can do for them. Turn up on their feed and create an impression of resilience in their minds.
Brand messaging that comes from a place of self-awareness and empathy is what people are looking for in the current business landscape. So don’t pull the plug on your online marketing and promotional activities.
3. Bring your 200%
If running your business in a pre-pandemic world was like a roller coaster ride, now it’s like being on a roller coaster in the dark.
So the only way to stay grounded is to hold on tight.
- Create a dedicated workspace
- Design your ideal day and keep that promise to yourself
- Put on your work outfits if it helps you focus better
- Determine a start time and end time for working and stick to it
Put your best foot forward every day and you’ll see how far you’ve come.
That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to feel the overwhelm. Acknowledge it, but don’t let it consume you.
4. To answer your question – yes people are still buying
And they are looking for their go-to brands to serve them right now.
Keep your ears to the ground and eyes peeled.
Who’s expressing interest when you post about your services?
What kind of questions are you receiving in your Dms?
Don’t be afraid to engage with your prospects and educate them about how you can support them right now.
Selling doesn’t have to feel icky if there’s a demand in the market. You are totally allowed to step up and fulfil that demand.
5. Stay in touch with your existing clients
As you create new opportunities, don’t forget to touch base with your existing clients.
- Talk to them and figure out how you can continue to make a difference in their life or business.
- Turn up as a human brand and commit to navigating these dire times together with empathy and understanding.
- If you’re pivoting your services, let them know that these were created with them in mind.
- If you work with small businesses, offer payment plans so that they can continue to benefit from your collaboration.
6. Review your sales process
In a pre-pandemic world, it was perfectly okay to share your website or landing page in response to inbound enquiries. You had a pipeline buzzing with prospects.
While it’s hard to acknowledge that may not be the case right now, that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it.
A great way to guarantee conversions in the current scenario is to interact 1:1 with your clients on a call.
- Offer them value first – short “pick our brain” power sessions are a great way to do that.
- Educate them on your “why” to establish a connect.
- Turn on your active listening powers and reassure them you have a solution to their problems.
- Tackle objections with empathy.
