Conversations over cocktails
“If you don’t know where you came from, you won’t know where you are going”, shared visionary Architect and Urban Designer Khushru Irani as he took us through his childhood memorabilia at his one-of-its-kind studio, localground.in in Pune.
The immersive tour of his heritage studio – a curious space with a multifold mission, introduced the audience to adaptive reuse architecture that is currently rising in the design sphere where heritage properties are refurbished and reconstructed to put to use for a different purpose. Setting the standard high as a “Citizen Architect”, Khushru Irani’s designs are inspired by multi-functional pieces and most of his projects depict sustainability, social design and retain as much as possible of the existing structure.
The room was plush with invigorating energy as entrepreneurs, architects, activists, designers, filmmakers and other dynamic inspired women came together to reimagine the future of living in urban spaces. A nuanced evening with our Pune members that was emblematic of ecological sensitivity and social impact convinced us that the future is bright.
