We were at People Of Tomorrow in Delhi for an immersive experience to solve a big global challenge – sustainability! The restaurant operates with a zero-waste, zero-plastic agenda and offered an entirely sustainable menu. Devyani Kapoor along with her co-founders Varun Soni and Anjali Sharma of Shuffling Suitcases India educated us on how we can identify and promote true sustainability. Shristi Ghunawat, the Founder of Tangerine Bio Jewellery took us through the process of creating their sustainable Spice jewellery collection, by plating 24kt gold with real spices.
The key question to constantly ask ourselves is – “Are we honest about every aspect of our businesses?” It’s crucial for brands and founders to be truly transparent to build trust, educate the consumers and validate their claims about using sustainable materials, ethical production methods and following fair practices across all chains of the channel. There is tremendous scope for progress and the journey has just begun, but we can make considerable strides just by probing and asking the tough questions with no easy answers.
There’s no one blueprint for sustainability but we are on our way to making this very real issue mainstream by having authentic conversations that summon change.
